A client came back to me last month and said, essentially: “your homepage carousel is fine, but I keep seeing these 3D ones on the big agency sites where the cards tilt and the depth rolls around and it makes me look a bit less like a competent web person.” And then went quiet, which is how he tells me the real ask.
The real ask was always: how do I get that look? And the honest answer for a long time was one of two things — Elementor Pro, which most of his reference sites were using, or a custom JS build, which is the honest price tag when you want real perspective on cards.
So I built the three carousel widgets I kept meaning to build, and the two of them — 3D Carousel and 3D Vertical Carousel — are in the free version of Reboot Addons. That is the whole thing. No Pro gate on the carousel itself. You get 3D depth, camera offset, animation speed, pause on hover, lightbox, and a vertical orientation if the page calls for one.
Most of the “3D carousel” plugins out there are doing a flat card with a CSS transform on it, and that reads as a fake to the eye in about two seconds. The controls I actually ship are the ones that make it hold up under a second look:
The short version: the depth and camera controls are the difference between “we added a carousel” and “this actually looks 3D.” If it is a flat card with a perspective filter, no amount of hover speed is going to hide it.
Sometimes the content really is a vertical list — a portfolio, a stack of case studies, a “recent work” section — and forcing a horizontal carousel on it is the whole problem. The 3D Vertical Carousel is the same depth treatment, orientation flipped. Same lightbox, same controls, same “no Elementor Pro required” situation.
No. Reboot Addons is built for the free Elementor editor. I have a client on Hello Elementor with just the free version running these carousels, and it renders fine. There is nothing about the widget that checks for a Pro license to render.
The carousel code only loads on pages where you actually have the widget. It is not a global script that every page on your site pays for. I would not run a full Lighthouse benchmark for you and pretend it is scientific, but “only loads where it is used” is the real answer to “is it slow.”
3D Carousel and 3D Vertical Carousel are both in the free version. You install Reboot Addons from the WordPress repo, find the widget, set it up. Some other widgets in the pack are Pro. The carousel is not one of them.
You do not owe anyone a Pro license. You do not owe anyone a custom GSAP invoice. Install the free plugin, add the widget, and set the camera distance where it feels right. That is the whole job.
One more thing. Both carousels are in the free plugin, with real depth, camera controls and no Pro licence. If you need the same look somewhere else, the whole widget set is in the same panel.
